Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) technology is available in a number of these NOAA weather warning radios, offering the ultimate in emergency preparedness and peace of mind. SAME allows you to screen out tornado and other emergency broadcasts that don't affect your local area. You and your family will never be awakened by false alarms.

Introduced in 2004, Public Alert Radios add another valuable dimension to early warning systems by expanding the traditional emergency alert system to include civil emergency messages about biological hazards, terrorist attacks, problems at nuclear plants, chemical spills and even AMBER alerts. Public Alert radios also provide traditional NOAA weather alert warnings for hurricanes, tornadoes, storm warnings, earthquakes and many more weather events.
